Authorship Criteria
TATEFL adheres to the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) Recommendations regarding authorship. To qualify as an author, an individual must meet all four mandatory criteria outlined below. Meeting only one, two, or three criteria is insufficient for authorship.
01. Substantial Contributions to the Work
An author must have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the scholarly work, including a community service or empowerment program, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data or evidence supporting that work.
02. Manuscript Drafting or Critical Intellectual Revision
An author must have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing and revising it for important intellectual content, ensuring the scholarly quality, methodological rigor, and validity of the research.
03. Final Approval of the Manuscript
An author must have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript intended for publication, demonstrating an understanding of and agreement with the scholarly content presented.
04. Accountability for Research Integrity
An author must agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that any questions concerning the accuracy, validity, or integrity of any part of the research are appropriately investigated and resolved.
All Four Criteria Are Mandatory
Individuals who fulfill all four criteria must be recognized as authors. Individuals who do not satisfy all four criteria should instead be appropriately acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, subject to their consent.
These authorship criteria are not intended to exclude legitimate contributors. Individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to community programs or their evaluation must be given a reasonable opportunity to participate in manuscript drafting, critical revision, and final approval.
