Editorial and Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Educational Study (JoES) undergo an editorial assessment and peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, relevance, and research integrity. The process consists of the following stages.

1. Manuscript Submission

Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal's online submission system in accordance with the author guidelines. Submissions should fall within the scope of JoES and meet the journal's requirements for manuscript preparation and publication ethics.

2. Initial Editorial Screening

The editorial team checks each submission for completeness, relevance to the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, originality, and potential ethical concerns. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's basic requirements or fall outside its scope may be rejected at this stage.

3. Similarity and Research Integrity Check

Manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection software to identify potential text similarity and support the assessment of publication ethics. Similarity reports are interpreted by the editorial team in context rather than being treated as the sole basis for an editorial decision.

4. Double Anonymous Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to independent reviewers with relevant academic expertise. JoES applies a double anonymous peer review system, in which reviewers do not know the identities of the authors and authors do not know the identities of the reviewers. The editorial team manages the review process and maintains confidentiality.

5. Reviewer Evaluation

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on their originality, theoretical foundation, clarity of research objectives, appropriateness of the methodology, quality of data analysis, interpretation of findings, relevance to educational research, and contribution to the field. Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommendations to assist the editor in making an informed decision.

6. Editorial Decision

After considering the reviewers' reports and the manuscript's quality, the editor communicates an editorial decision to the authors. Possible decisions include:

  • Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication without further substantive revision.
  • Minor Revision: The authors are asked to make limited revisions in response to the reviewers' comments.
  • Major Revision: The authors must undertake substantial revisions before the manuscript can be reconsidered.
  • Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal's publication standards or is unsuitable for publication.

7. Manuscript Revision and Re-evaluation

When revisions are requested, authors must revise their manuscripts and provide responses to the reviewers' comments. The revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation or assessed by the editor, depending on the extent of the revisions and the nature of the comments.

8. Final Editorial Decision

The editor makes the final decision after evaluating the reviewers' recommendations, the authors' revisions, and the manuscript's overall quality. Acceptance is based on the manuscript's academic merit and compliance with the journal's publication standards.

9. Copyediting, Proofreading, and Publication

Accepted manuscripts proceed to the journal's production stage, which may include copyediting, formatting, proofreading, and the preparation of publication metadata. Authors may be asked to check the proofs before the final article is published online.

Double Anonymous Peer Review Policy

JoES adopts a double anonymous peer review system to promote fairness, objectivity, and academic integrity. The identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another throughout the review process.

  • Authors' identifying information is kept confidential from reviewers during peer review.
  • Reviewers' identities are not disclosed to authors.
  • Reviewers are selected based on their relevant expertise and the suitability of their academic background for the manuscript.
  • Reviewers are expected to assess manuscripts objectively, maintain confidentiality, disclose potential conflicts of interest, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Editorial decisions are made by the editor after considering the review reports and the quality of the manuscript.

The double anonymous review process is intended to minimize potential bias and ensure that manuscripts are evaluated primarily on their scholarly quality, methodological rigor, originality, and contribution to the field of education.

All participants in the editorial and peer review process are expected to uphold confidentiality, professional conduct, and the journal's publication ethics standards.
